Miss Shanterrica Antrese Shipman

Shanterrica Antrese Shipman (Shan as she was affectionately known) was born September 12, 1993 in Troy, AL to Annette Hampton and Eric Shipman. Shan joined Sweet Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church when she was 8 years old and was baptized on January 9, 2002. Shan was granted her “Angel Wings” on Friday, August 12, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, Maryland. In her 22 years on earth, she impacted/influenced so many people. Everyone she met loved her. Her big beautiful smile was always comforting to others. Shan attended Banks Primary and Middle School from Kindergarten to 6th grade. While at Banks she was a part of the “Gifted Program” and Honor Roll. Shan attended Pike County High School from 7th grade until she graduated in May 2012. While at PCHS she was a devoted member of the Pride of Pike Marching Band for 6 years. She graduated with Honors and was #8 in her class. She received an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Enterprise State Community College. She received Troy United Women League Scholarship, Upward Bound Bridge Scholarship, Tuskegee University Scholarship, and Teamster Local 1150 Scholarship. She received recognition from Pike County Chamber of Commerce, Junior Ambassador Award, Future Business Leader of America Chapter Officer, Internship with U.S. Representative Martha Roby, Sigma Alpha Pi National Society of Leadership and Success from Enterprise State Community College, Completion of the Academy of Business and Finance. She was a participant of the Troy University Trio Upward Bound Program for 4 years. Her school activities included: She was a Charter Member of Sigma Alpha Pi, member of National Honor Society, FBLA, Junior Red Cross President, Student Ambassador, SGA Representative freshman year, SGA treasurer sophomore year, SGA secretary junior year, she was voted “Most Likely to Succeed”, and Delta Gem. Shan’s summer internship included: Summer 2012 she worked in U.S. Representative Martha Roby’s office in Dothan, AL. 2013 Inroads Intern at Regions Financial Corporation - Birmingham, AL; she worked as a Consumer Banking Intern 2014 Inroads Intern at Regions Financial Corporation – Montgomery, AL; She worked as a Human Resource Intern. 2015 Inroads Intern at Edward Jones Investment Firm – St. Louis, Missouri; She worked as Financial Advisor Acquisition Support Intern. College In June 2012, she attended Upward Bound Summer Bridge Program at Troy University. In August 2012, Shan enrolled at Tuskegee University (TU) in Business Administration. She was involved in many activities at TU: a member of Pi Sigma Epsilon, VP of Administration (2013-2014), the National Society of Leadership and Success President (2014-2016), Student Government Association Member (2012-2016), TUBE Conference Events Committee Member (2013-2014), College of Business and Information Science Peer Monitor (2014-2016), Inroads Campus Ambassador (2014-2015). She loved Tuskegee University and her TU family. Shan graduated on Saturday, May 7th, 2016, from Tuskegee University with a Master Degree in Business Administration. Shan believed in Community Service and giving back. She volunteered at Southeast AL Sickle Cell Association in Tuskegee, AL. Also was a regular volunteer at George Washington Carver Elementary School in Tuskegee. Career Shan moved to Baltimore, Maryland to accept a position with Lockheed Martin in June 2016. In her short time on the job her loving personality and beautiful smile, captured so many hearts. Shan was preceded in death by her grandfathers – Johnny Wheeler and Earnest Harvey. Shan leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted mother, Annette Hampton, of Banks, AL; her father, Eric Shipman of Troy, AL; a fabulous sister and brother, Takiyah Pettway and Isiah Wheeler, Banks, AL; her grandmothers, Annie H. Wheeler, Banks, AL, and Gloria Harvey, Troy, AL; a special friend, Kaiyan Dixon; ten Aunts, five Uncles, her Tuskegee University Family, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly. Family and Friends Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016. Celebration of Life Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the Pike County High School Gymnasium. Miss Shipman will lie in repose one (1) hour prior to the service. Committal Services will follow at Sweet Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
